Jan Scholten
Jan has been involved with Contender since its beginning in 1986 and Managing Director since 1990. He is originally from Holland but has made Australia his home since 1981. Jan's contribution is his practical experience with Contender's products, primarily through active sailing in one-design classes, etchells and lasers. In more recent years Jan has exposed Maxx laminates in his sailing in the Sydney 38 class as well as offshore sailing and other east coast events, including Hamilton Island. Jan's offshore racing experience includes 15 Sydney to Hobart races, ranging from 34 footers to the last two years with the maxi Skandia. Contender Australia is unique in its depth of knowledge of sailcloth application due to practical involvement in the sport of sailing.
Debbie Brunner
Debbie has worked at Contender since 2001 in charge of accounts and office admin. She also attends to customer service and shipping. She has worked as a bookkeeper and P.A. for many years in the areas of finance, law and engineering. Debbie is currently studying an Advanced Diploma in Accounting at evening college and has almost completed a Bachelor of Arts degree.
Matt Mallard
Matt started in 2003 and is an experienced club sailer mainly involved with cruising. He has a background in engineering and real estate sales and is currently completing Real Estate qualifications at evening college. Matt's role involves handling goods inwards and outwards, customer orders, purchasing and customer service.
Jon Kimberley
Jon has worked in the sailcloth industry since 1993 and joined Contender in 2004 so he brings a wealth of experience and contacts in sailing. Jon understands the needs of sailmakers and is also trained in rigging knowledge. Jon's primary role is to manage the warehouse but he also has a lot of customer focus in the sales area and is partly responsible for national sales visits. He is an active sailor at club level. |
